About MCS

An independent International
Classification Society

Maritime Classification Services (MCS) is an independent International Classification Society and Verification Body dedicated to providing classification, statutory certification, and greenhouse gas validation and verification services to vessels and other marine & offshore structures.

Our objective is to protect and improve the environment and safety of life at sea. Our activities consist of the application of MCS Rules and Regulations for the design, construction and operational maintenance of ships, as well as marine related structures, and the subsequent verification of these standards.

As an accredited Verification Body, MCS provides services relating to Regulation (EU) 2015/757 on monitoring, reporting and verification of CO₂ emissions from maritime transport. MCS is accredited by TUV International under ISO 9001:2008.
